This model leverages Patient Care Technicians to perform duties that do not require a nursing license, providing greater career advancement, autonomy, and involvement in patient care. Key responsibilities include advanced dressing care, suctioning, venipunctures, specimen handling, activities of daily living, patient safety watch, point‑of‑care testing, equipment troubleshooting, precepting, clerical duties, medication transport, discharge follow‑up, and quality rounds.
