Job Summary Geisinger is proud to offer a Patient Care Technician a $1500 sign‑on bonus for eligible candidates, a minimum hiring rate of $18.94 with increased rates for experienced individuals and up to $3.00 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. In addition, Geisinger offers up to $40,000 in financial support for candidates who want to become a nurse. ACE Nursing Model of Care Geisinger is piloting the ACE Nursing Model of Care on our Advanced Acute Care Units at the Danville campus. This model leverages Patient Care Technicians to perform duties that do not require a nursing license, providing greater career advancement, autonomy, and involvement in patient care. Primary Duties Primary facilitator of ADLs: hygiene, toileting, mobility, meals Vital signs monitoring Point‑of‑care testing Turning & repositioning Daily weights Equipment checks & exchanges Dressing care Removal of Foley catheter and peripheral IV Nasogastric tube removal and performing nasal swabs Checking code carts and oxygen storage cabinets Job Description May perform a wide variety of advanced patient care duties under the supervision of a registered nurse, ensuring the patient care and unit environment meet policies, procedures, and practices. Key responsibilities include advanced dressing care, suctioning, venipunctures, specimen handling, activities of daily living, patient safety watch, point‑of‑care testing, equipment troubleshooting, precepting, clerical duties, medication transport, discharge follow‑up, and quality rounds. Position Details Role: GP4 Advanced Acute Care Palliative/Medical Surgical Schedule: Three 12‑hour day shifts (7:00 am–7:30 pm) including every other weekend and holiday. Orientation: Two‑week classroom orientation (Monday‑Friday, 7:00 am–3:30 pm). Education & Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) – required. Graduate from a Specialty Training Program – preferred. Experience: Minimum of 1 year related work experience – preferred. Certification: Basic Life Support within 6 months – default issuing body.
