HVAC Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced HVAC Engineer to join our facilities maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operation of commercial HVAC/R, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems across assigned facilities.

This role requires strong technical expertise in commercial HVAC systems, refrigeration equipment, and facility maintenance, along with the ability to respond to emergency service requests and perform preventive maintenance activities to ensure maximum equipment uptime and operational efficiency.

The position involves working in various environmental conditions, traveling between facilities, participating in an on-call rotation, and utilizing CMMS tools for maintenance tracking and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on:
  • Commercial HVAC/R systems
  • Refrigeration equipment
  • Mechanical systems
  • Plumbing systems
  • Electrical systems
• Diagnose and repair issues related to:
  • 480V 3-phase electrical systems
  • HVAC controls and components
  • Building/facility equipment
• Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety standards, company policies, and customer requirements.
• Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls and minimize equipment downtime.
• Operate and maintain facility systems efficiently to support uninterrupted operations.
• Utilize CMMS tools (preferably Corrigo) to:
  • Document maintenance activities
  • Track work orders
  • Update equipment records
• Conduct routine inspections and identify potential issues before failures occur.
• Support general facility upkeep and maintenance activities as assigned.
• Travel between assigned facilities as required.
• Participate in the on-call rotation schedule and respond to call center requests in accordance with company and customer expectations.
• Perform physical maintenance tasks including:
  • Climbing ladders
  • Lifting equipment/materials
  • Working in extreme hot and cold environments
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications Experience

• Minimum 4+ years of hands-on experience in:
  • Commercial HVAC/R systems
  • Refrigeration maintenance
  • Electrical troubleshooting
  • Building/facility maintenance
• Strong working knowledge of:
  • 480V 3-phase electrical systems (mandatory)
  • HVAC diagnostics and repair
  • Mechanical and plumbing systems

Education

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Certifications

• Universal CFC/EPA Certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
• Valid Driver's License

Technical Skills

• Commercial refrigeration maintenance
• Electrical distribution systems
• Preventive maintenance programs
• CMMS systems (Corrigo preferred)
• Production equipment maintenance
• HVAC troubleshooting and diagnostics

Working Conditions

• Ability to work in extreme hot and cold environments
• Ability to lift equipment/materials and climb ladders
• Availability for call-in and emergency work
• Willingness to travel between facilities as required
