Hendrick Motorsports, a leader in the auto racing industry, is currently seeking a Engine Development Systems Fabricator. Summary: The Development Systems Fabricator is responsible for the design and manufacturing of various fabricated components for both high performance engines and engine test cells. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Proficient in AC/DC Tig (GTAW) and Mig (GMAW) Welding.
  • Operate a manual milling machine and engine lathe to modify or manufacture experimental parts for testing.
  • Operate press brake, bandsaw, plasma cutter, grinders, tube benders, and other metal cutting / forming tools to modify or manufacture experimental parts for testing.
  • Manufacture engine, vehicle, and test cell exhaust components including design & implementation of 3D fixtures and generating full Bill of Materials (BOM) from CAD models.
  • Evaluate component designs by measuring and comparing them with original specifications on engineering drawings for form and function using engineering skills.
  • Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components for products such as industrial machinery or equipment and measuring instruments.
  • Discuss changes in design, method of manufacture and assembly, and drafting techniques and procedures with staff and coordinate corrections.
  • Review project instructions and blueprints to ascertain test specifications, procedures, and objectives, and test nature of technical problems such as redesign.
  • Flexibility with pivoting on tasks based on priorities.
  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.

Education/Experience:
  • Requires technical training in automotive manufacturing including metal fabrication and manual machining.
  • Extensive mechanical and technical aptitude desired.
  • Knowledge of internal combustion engine operation, maintenance, and repair a plus.
Physical Demands:
  • Requires vision (near, distance, depth), sense of touch, and ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – safety glasses, hearing protection.
  • Constantly manually manipulates, squats or kneels, bends, lifts/carries up to 20 pounds, and pushes/pulls 12 pounds or less.
  • Frequently stands, walks, sits, reaches outward, reaches above shoulder, lifts/carries up to 50 pounds, and pushes/pulls up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally climbs, crawls, lifts/carries over 100 pounds, and pushes/pulls up to 100 pounds.
Environment Demands:
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior environment; however, the individual may be subject to some unpleasant elements, including fumes, loud noises, and chemicals.
