Job Summary:

The Radiology / Cardiology Cath Lab Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures in an acute care hospital setting. This role involves equipment setup, patient monitoring, and assisting with complex cardiac interventions such as stent placement and angioplasty. The technician must maintain sterile technique, recognize life-threatening arrhythmias, and collaborate closely with the cardiac care team to ensure patient safety and effective procedural outcomes. A minimum of one year of relevant experience and multiple certifications are required.

Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures including left and right heart catheterizations, PCI, PTCA, and rotablader atherectomy.
• Assist with cardiac implant closure devices, cardiac stent placement, and IABP placement/removal.
• Set up and prepare equipment for cardiac cath lab procedures ensuring sterile technique and infection control compliance.
• Recognize and respond to life-threatening arrhythmias during procedures.
• Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner electronic medical records system.
• Follow isolation precautions and maintain sterile environment during procedures.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive cardiac care.
• Participate in on-call rotations and weekend shifts as required.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Minimum of 1 year experience in diagnostic or interventional cardiac cath lab.
• Active certifications: ACLS, BLS, ARRT, RCIS.
• Proficiency in cardiac cath lab procedures including stent placement, diagnostic catheterizations, and PCI.
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and infection control practices.
• Ability to recognize dysrhythmias and manage acute cardiac events.
• Experience with Cerner electronic health record system.
• Must hold an active license and be located in Illinois at least 3 business days prior to compliance requirements.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in a Level I trauma center or Magnet hospital.
• Familiarity with cardiac implant closure devices and IABP management.
• Prior experience with acute care hospital settings and multidisciplinary cardiac teams.

Special Considerations:

• On-call availability required as needed.
• Will work 2-3 weekends per contract.
• Candidate must be able to comply with fingerprinting and hospital compliance requirements.
• Floating outside scope of practice is not required.
• Parking permit required but at no cost.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced acute care environment with strict infection control protocols.

Scheduling:

• Work schedule consists of 3 twelve-hour day shifts (06:30 to 19:00).
• Block schedule requests may be discussed with the manager.
• Return to office restrictions ideally limited to no more than 5 days.
• Guaranteed hours subject to client call-offs up to 36 hours per thirteen-week assignment.
