Job Description

Job Summary

 

A 3rd Grade Teacher at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta School is responsible for fostering a Christ-centered, academically excellent learning environment that nurtures the spiritual, intellectual, social, and emotional growth of each student. The teacher integrates Catholic values into all aspects of instruction, maintains high academic standards, and supports the mission and vision of the school in alignment with the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools (NSBECS).

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Faith Formation and Integration

  • Model and promote Catholic values in all interactions
  • Incorporate faith-based principles into daily lessons and classroom activities
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive classroom environment rooted in Catholic teachings
  • Participate in liturgies, prayer services, and religious celebrations

 

Instructional Excellence

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum, state standards, and NSBECS
  • Deliver instruction appropriate to the developmental needs of 3rd grade students
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies, including differentiated instruction
  • Encourage critical thinking, creativity, and a love of learning
  • Integrate technology to enhance instruction and student engagement

 

Student Development

  • Support the spiritual, academic, and social-emotional development of 3rd grade students
  • Maintain high expectations for student behavior and academic achievement
  • Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments
  • Provide timely feedback and communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues

 

Community Engagement

  • Build positive, collaborative relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Support school events, activities, and service projects
  • Model faith, service, and academic excellence within the school community

 

Professional Growth

  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities
  • Reflect on instructional practices and seek feedback for continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support student learning and success

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Valid teaching certification appropriate for elementary education
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church
  • Strong knowledge of Catholic teachings and commitment to faith-based education
  • Experience teaching at the elementary level, preferably in a Catholic school
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in using educational technology to enhance instruction
